(May 30, 2015) At the 2015 town elections held on May 12 two trustees were elected for a three year term and one trustee was elected for a one year term. Previously one trustee resigned during the three year term and a replacement was selected by the joint appointment made by the Trustees and the Board of Selectmen. That position was subject to election at the next town election (May 2015) for the remainder of the term.
(Updated December 2013) The Library Board of Trustees has approved the proposed FY 2015 library budget and it has been submitted to the town. The Board of Selectmen and the Finance Committee will be conducting budget hearings on two Saturdays in February 2014 to review budgets of all town departments, boards, committees, etc. Following that process a final town budget is developed (usually in April) and submitted to town voters at the Annual Town Meeting in May 2014 for approval. The proposed library budget includes additional funding to allow the library to become a mininet member of C/W Mars the regional automated library system The existing level of membership will NOT exist as of July 1, 2014. The additional cost is about $ 9,000 annually with additional upfront costs. Based on the current insulation project it is anticipated that funds will be saved in energy costs in the future which can partly offset the increase in the C/W Mars assessment. Stay tuned as information becomes available later in the year.
(Updated May 28, 2013) As a result of the Southwick Annual Town elections held on May 14, 2013 the composition of the Library Board of Trustees has changed. The 2014 Town budget approved on May 21, 2013 provides no funding for an additional part-time reference librarian as requested by the Library Board of Trustees in their FY 2014 budget request.
